Egg Chilli | Chinese style egg chilli recipe

Delicious Chinese style boiled egg chilli Recipe.

Egg chilli recipe in Chinese style. This is a sweet and sour side dish recipe with capsicum and onion. A perfect side dish for dinner party. I got this recipe from my father who often do experiments 🙂 .I like sweet and sour curries mostly like elisseri, dates chutney etc…Now this egg chilli became a part of our dining table. Dear friends please try out this recipe.

How to make Egg chilli?


4 no of Hard boiled eggs
6 no of Green chillies
2 no of onion
3 no of tomato
1 tbsp. of chopped garlic.
1 spn. of chopped ginger.
2 no of cinnamon sticks
2 no of crushed cardamom
1 spn. of chilli sause
2 spn. of Tomato sauce
1/4 spn. of chilli powder
1/6 spn. of turmeric powder
1/6 spn. of pepper powder
3 tbsp. of chopped coriander leaves
2 spn. of Oil


Step 01

Remove the shells from the eggs and slit them lengthwise .Keep aside.

Step 02

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 03

Add cinnamon sticks and crushed cardamom.Saute for a while.

Step 04

Add chopped ginger and garlic.Fry till the raw smell goes off.

Step 05

Add chopped onion and sliced green chilli. Saute for 1-2 minutes.

Step 06

Add chopped tomatoes.Fry them till tomatoes become mushy.

Step 07

Add chilli powder and turmeric powder.Fry for 1 minute.

Step 08

Add chilli sauce,tomato sauce,pepper powder and salt.Mix well and cook for 1/2 minute in low flame.

Step 09

Add 1/4 cup water and boil till gravy thickens.

Step 10

Add sliced eggs and mix carefully till the eggs coated in the gravy.

Step 11

Garnish with Chopped coriander leaves
