Appam recipe. Appam or set dosa is south India’s traditional breakfast item. It is a very easy-to-make and healthy recipe. We need to ferment the rice and urad dal batter for making this appam. We can make the batter and store it in the refrigerator for a week. Using this same batter we can make uthappam,Dosa etc… There are a lot many side dishes like Coconut Chutney, Mint Chutney and 8 types of chutney recipe collections.

How to make Appam / How to make Set Dosa?

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of Dosa rice/white rice/ pachari
  • 1/2 cup of Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp. of cooked rice
  • Salt for taste

Method


Step 01

Rinse and soak rice and urad dal together in water for about 6 hours.

Step 02

Grind well and ferment for 8 hours.

Step 03

Heat non stick pan.

Step 04

Add salt in to the batter and mix well.Pour one ladle of batter in to pan. Just spread batter by pressing with a ladle in the center. Do not overspread

Step 05

Goes well with chutneys.

Side dish For Appam

Mint leaves chutney, Tomato chutney, Dosa podi (with urad dal), Coconut chutney powder, etc…
