    Crispy and tasty snack with banana blossoms

    Banana flower / vazhappo dishes are common in south Indian cuisine. I am familiar with a lot of recipes with banana flowers such as banana flower stir fry, banana flower pakkavada etc. I found this recipe in a magazine and a bajji with banana blossom was new to me. It sounds interesting and tried out for an evening snack. It was super crispy and tasty. Kids also liked the finger shape of the snack. I made this vazhapoo bajji with besan flour and added rice flour for more crispiness. Frying the bajji in coconut oil makes the dish tastier. Hope you all liked this easy banana blossom fry recipe.     Banana Blossom Fry recipe.

    Ingredients

    • 20 no of banana blossoms
    • 1/2 cup of besan flour
    • 1/4 cup of rice flour
    • 1/2 spn. of chilli powder
    • 1/4 spn of turmeric powder
    • 1/2 spn of chaat masala
    • 1/2 spn of ginger garlic paste
    • Salt as required
    • 1/2 cup of water

    Method

    Step 1

    Take off the blossoms from the banana flower.

    Step 2

    Remove the black color string of blossom. Wash and remove water from the blossom by straining it.

    Step 3

    Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Add water little by little and make a thick batter.

    Step 4

    Heat oil in a kadai. Dip the blossoms one by one and deep fry till golden brown color.
