Beetroot hummus is a delicious and healthy middle eastern starter dip which goes well with roti, chapati etc. This healthy starter is made with beetroot and white chana also called as Kabuli chana. Hummus is a usually made with white chana, tahini (sesame paste), olive oil and lemon juice as main ingredients.
I saw this beetroot hummus recipe in a magazine. Found the recipe very attractive and healthy. So I thought of making something healthy for my dinner. Served with roti and chicken and it was delicious. There was not much taste difference as normal hummus. But of course beetroot made the dish more healthy and colorful. Beetroot is rich in potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamins A, B6 and C, folic acid, carbohydrates, protein, antioxidants etc…

How to make beetroot hummus
250g of boiled chickpeas
200g of peeled and boiled beetroot
100g of sesame seeds
4 cloves of garlic
1 spn. of lime juice
2 spn. of olive oil
Salt as required
Place all the ingredients in a food processor or mixer grinder and process till smooth.
Serve with roti,bread etc…
beetroot hummus is good for kids. You can serve this dip with bread, chapati, roti etc…Beetroot is rich in iron and chickpeas are full of protein. Replace your bakery items with something healthy like chapati hummus rolls, bread and hummus spread etc…Healthy living 🙂
