Healthy and Delicious kheer made with broken wheat and Jaggery
Broken wheat kheer/Gothambu payasam is Kerala’s traditional kheer. We used to prepare this kheer especially in festivals like Onam,vishu etc…This kheer is diabetic friendly because we are not using sugar here. How to make Broken Wheat Kheer?
Ingredients
250g of Broken wheat
1 cup of Coconut milk(thick)
1 1/2 cup of Coconut milk(thin)
150g of Jaggery
1/4 spn. of Cardamom powder
1 pinch of Salt
1 cup of Water
Method
Step 01
Roast chopped coconut,raisins and nuts in ghee. Keep aside.
Step 02
Pressure cook broken wheat along with 1 cup of water. Do not add too much of water.(3-4 whistle in medium flame)
Step 03
If there is water in broken wheat,boil in high flame without covering the Pan. Add thin coconut milk(randaam paal) and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Step 04
Add jaggery solution and cook for 1-2 minute.
Step 05
Add thick coconut milk and cardamom powder. Cook for 1 minute and switch off the flame.
Step 06
Add 1 pinch of salt(optional),roasted coconut,raisins and nuts.Mix well.
Step 07
Serve hot with pappadam.
