Protien rich rice recipe with chana dal
Chana dal pulao is a very healthy protein-rich main course. This is very easy to make rice recipe with few ingredients. We make many varieties of dishes with chana dal like vada,gravy, dhokla etc… But rice with chana dal was new to me. Once I prepared this recipe everyone liked it especially my kids. I have already posted different varieties of 10+ Rice recipes which are very nutritious and healthy. Hope you all will like this rice recipe.
How to make chana dal pulao
Ingredients
2 cup of pulao rice/biryani rice/sona masoori
1 cup of chana dal (soaked for 6 hours)
1 no large onion
2 spn. of cumin seeds
1 small piece of ginger
3 no of garlic cloves
3 no of green chillies
2 spn. of oil/butter
Method
Step 01
Wash and soak rice in water for 15 minutes. Cook rice and drain it (Do not overcook the rice. It should be 3/4 cook). Keep aside.
Step 02
Meanwhile, Pressure cook soaked chana dal with salt till 1 whistle in high flame.( Do not overcook chana dal. We cannot prepare the rice when it is mushy)
Step 03
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, finely sliced onion, green chillies, garlic and ginger. Fry till onion becomes golden brown color.
Step 04
Add cooked chana dal and mix well.
Step 05
Add cooked rice and mix well. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well and fry for 2-3 minutes.
Step 06
Serve hot with sambar or mint chutney.
