Chena curry | Yam curry
Traditional Kerala side dish usually prepared for onam
Chena curry or (yam curry) is a traditional side dish of Kerala cuisine. We used to prepare chena ozhichukoottan for Onam. This is a very easy to make side dish that can be prepared within half an hour. Chena is known as elephant foot yam which is full of antioxidants and has lot many health benefits. Yam reduces LDL cholesterol in our body and thereby reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Try to include this root vegetable in your diet as stir fry or gravy.
. We can prepare lots of dishes with chena like stir fry, fry, gravy, puzhukku etc. chena chips is a super tasty kids-friendly fry recipe. Kootu Curry is another tasty combination of yam and black chana which is slightly sweet in taste. This ozhichukoottan is very easy to make and perfect for serving with rice. I have also prepared a tasty stir fry with my homegrown greater yam (kachil / kavath) etc.
