Chicken Tikka | How to make chicken tikka and green chutney


    Chicken tikka is a very famous North Indian dish which can be served as a starter. You can also serve tikka with paratha, Ghee Rice, fried rice etc. This dish is one of the popular starters in Indian cuisine. I have prepared this chicken tikka in the oven. You can also make this in a pan by adding 2 spoons of oil.

    The overall cooking time of this dish is 45 minutes. You need to take the tikka from the oven after 30 minutes, flip it and spread butter then grill it again for 10 more minutes. The best combination of chicken tikka is with green chutney. I made the chutney using only coriander leaves.     12 best Chutney Recipes for Idli & Dosa


    • 1/2 kg of Boneless chicken
    • 1/2 cup of hung curd
    • 2 tbsp of Ginger garlic green chilli paste
    • 1 spn of Kashmiri chilli powder
    • 1 1/2 spn of coriander powder
    • 1 spn of garam masala
    • 1/2 spn of turmeric powder
    • 1 spn of kasoori methi
    • 1 spn of cumin powder
    • oil/butter
    • Salt as required


    Step 1

    Take the boneless chicken in a bowl

    Step 2

    Add all the ingredients in to the bowl including 1 spn of oil.

    Step 3

    Mix well. Marinate for 30 minutes.

    Step 4

    Soak bamboo skewers in water for 10 minutes to avoid the burning while grilling the chicken

    Step 5

    Cut capsicum and onion into cube shape.

    Step 6

    Transfer the marinated chicken pieces to another bowl. Add capsicum pieces in to the bowl and marinate with remaining mix.

    Step 7

    Skew the pieces alternatively (Chicken, capsicum, onion). Preheat oven in 180 degree and bake for 30 minutes.

    Step 8

    After 30 minutes take out the check pieces and apply the butter by flipping it. Grill for 10 more minutes. Serve hot with green chutney.

    1 bunch of coriander leaves

    1/2 cup of curd

    1 small piece of ginger

    2-3 green chillies



    Grind all the ingredients together.
