Punjabi Dal Makhani Recipe with red kidney beans and whole black lentils
Dal Makhani is one of the most popular Punjabi recipe. As it name implies it is a rich creamy side dish made with dal (lentil) ,makhan (butter) and cream. If you are more health conscious, you can avoid butter and cream. We can prepare dal makhani in many ways. This is the most easiest way. No sauteing required for this recipe. Ingredients
200 g of kidney beans/rajma
150 g of whole black gram/whole urad dal
2 spn. of butter/olive oil
1 no of onion
2 no of tomato
4-5 cloves of garlic
1/4 spn. of cumin powder
1/2 spn. of chilli powder
1/6 spn. of turmeric powder
14/ spn. of panjabi garam masala(dry roast coriander seeds,cumin seeds,nutmeg,cardamom,cloves,dry ginger,bay leaves and pepper and powder it)
salt as required
1/4 cup of Full fat cream(optional)
Dal Makhani Preparation Steps
Step 01
Soak beans and black urad dal in water for overnightStep 02
pressure cook the beans along with all the ingredients including saltStep 03
Cook for 8-10 whistle in medium flameStep 04
Once it is done,gently mash the mix with a ladleStep 05
Again pressure cook for 2-3 whistle in medium flame till you get a smoothy consistencyStep 06
