Dates thodu curry or Dates Chutney is an integral part of Kerala festivals like Onam, Vishu, Eid etc. This sweet and tangy side dish is highly nutritious and easy to prepare. Dates thodu curry need only few ingredients and can prepare within 10 minutes and tastes like sweet puliyinchi. Dates chutney is also familiar in north India but the preparation method is bit different. Hope you all will like this thodu curry recipe. How to make Dates Thodu Curry | Dates Chutney


10 no of dates
1 cup of tamarind juice(juice of one lemon sized tamarind)
½ spn. of chilly powder
Salt as required
To season
1 spn. of Oil
1 spn. of Mustard seeds
4 no of Red chilly
2 springs of Curry leaves


Step 01

Remove the seed of dates and chop into small pieces

Step 02

Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 03

Add red chillies and curry leaves.Fry for ½ minute.

Step 04

Turn off the flame and add chilly powder.stir well and add chopped dates.

Step 05

Switch on the flame and add salt.Stir well for 2 minute.

Step 06

Add tamarind pulp and ½ cup of water.Cook for 5-7 minute.

Step 07

When the curry thickens,remove from fire
