Fish molee is a traditional side dish of kerela. It is really a mouth watering fish recipe serve with palappam. Fish molee is prepare in coconut milk. This fish stew is very famous in India,Malaysia and Singapore. Compared to other fish curries fish molee is very easy to prepare. Karimeen(peal sago fish) is perfect for making fish molee or else you can also use any fish of your choice. I have already tried some karimeen recipes like Karimeen Fry and Karimeen pollichathu. Ingredients

Ingredients

1 no of Karmieen / Pearl Spot
To marinate
3/4 spn. of tumeric powder
1/4 spn. of pepper powder
1 spn. of lemon juice
salt as required
for gravy
3 no of cardamom
4 no of cloves
2 pieces of cinnamon
20 no of sliced onion
2 no of sliced onion
1 no of chopped tomatoes(optional)
1 tbsp. of crushed ginger garlic and green chilli
3 springs of curry leaves
3/4 spn. of turmeric powder
1/4 spn. of pepper powder
2 cup of thin coconut milk(randaam paal)
1 cup of thick coconut milk
salt as required
2 tbsp. of oil

Fish molee Preparation Method


Step 01


Marinate the fish turmeric powder,pepper powder,salt and lemon juice. Keep aside for 15 minutes.

Step 02


Keep aside for 15 minutes.

Step 03


Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish. Keep aside.

Step 04


Heat oil in another pan.

Step 05


Add cardamom,cloves and cinnamon sticks. Fry for a while.

Step 06


Add finely sliced shallots and fry well for 3-4 minutes.

Step 07


Add sliced onion and fry till onion translucent. Add curry leaves and salt.

Step 08


Add crushed ginger garlic and green chillies. Fry for 2-3 minutes in medium flame.

Step 09


When onion get fried, add turmeric powder and pepper powder. Fry for 1 minute.

Step 10


Add thin coconut milk and cook for 3-4 minutes in medium flame.

Step 11


Add thick coconut milk and when it starts to boil,add fried fish. Cover the pan and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame.

Step 12


Turn the other side of fish and again cook for another 2-3 minutes in low flame.

Step 13


Finally add chopped tomatoes and turn off the flame.

Step 14


Serve hot with rice,appam.

9.When onion get fried, add turmeric powder(1/2) and pepper powder(1/4). Fry for 1 minute.

10.cover the pan and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame.

11.After 5 minutes turn the other side of fish. Cover the pan cook for another 5 minutes in low flame

12.Finally add tomatoes(optional) and turn off the flame. Serve hot with appam, chpathi etc…
