Instant kalthappam


Kalathappam(Rice cake) is one of the famous muslim cuisine of kerala.We used to make sweet klathappam and salty version as a 4 O’clock snack(you can have this with any spicy curry).


Usually we are making kalthappam by grinding unbolied rice(pachari) and cooked rice.It is little bit time consuming.So i thought of making an instant kalthappam using unbolied rice flour(Puttu podi or pathiripodi).

Ingredients

  • 2 cup of Rice flour(pachari)
  • 1 cup of Grated coconut
  • 5 no of Shallots
  • 1/2 spn. of Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 spn. of Black Cumin seeds(karinjeerakam)
  • 1 spn. of Oil/Ghee
  • Salt to taste

Method


Step 01

Mix rice flour with water,grated coconut,cumin seeds and Black Cumin seeds.

Step 02

Heat ghee/oil in a non stick pan.

Step 03

Add chopped small onion. Saute well till golden color.

Step 04

Pour batter in to the pan.Cover the lid and cook in low flame for 15 min.

Step 05

Instant kalthappam is ready.Serve with black tea
