    Kadala curry is one of the well known breakfast side dish in Kerala. Puttum kadalayum is Kerala’s common breakfast item. Kadala curry is very healthy as it is packed with protein. We can serve Kadala curry withPuttu,Set Dosa,Idiyappam,Gothambu Vellayappametc… I have posted Kadala curry without using coconut which is very easy to make. Hope you all will like this recipes.

    How to make Kerala style kadala curry

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups of Bengal gram(Kadala)
    • 2 tbsp. of Ginger Garlic Paste
    • 1 cup of Grated Coconut
    • 1 large Onion
    • 2 medium sized Tomatoes
    • 2-3 Green Chillies
    • Oil to season
    • 1 tspn. of Mustard Seeds
    • Salt as required

    Method


    Step 01

    Soak kadala in water for 2 hour. Pressure cook with salt and 3 pinch of turmeric powder.

    Step 02

    Grind coconut well.

    Step 03

    Heat oil in pan.splutter mustard seeds.

    Step 04

    Add ginger garlic paste,saute for 1 min.

    Step 05

    Add onion,fry for 5 min.

    Step 06

    Add tomato and stir well.

    Step 07

    Add all the spices(chilli powder,turmeric powder,garam masala) and fry for 1 min.

    Step 08

    Add cooked kadala and stir well.cook for 2 min.

    Step 09

    Add coconut mix and cook well.

    Step 10

    season with mustard seeds.
