    Healthy and nutritious soup with sprouted black gram


    Kala chana soup / black chana soup is a healthy protein-rich soup made with few ingredients. Blach chana is also known as kala chana,black chickpeas,kadala etc…It has lots of lots health benefits. Black gram is rich in protein, folates, carbohydrates, and iron. My mom used to prepare this soup when we were kids. So I have a deep sentiment for this soup . Kala chana contains a good amount of protein and fiber and it is very good for kids. In addition to that, I made this soup with sprouted black chana which makes the soup more nutritious.

    How to make Kala chana soup

    Ingredients


    2 cup of black chana
    1/2 spn. of turmeric
    1/2 spn. of cumin powder
    1/4 spn. of pepper powder
    2 tbsp. of crushed shallots
    1 tbsp of crushed garlic
    2 springs of curry leaves
    Salt as required

    Preparation Method


    Step 01


    Wash and soak black chana in water for 6 hours. Drain it and store in cotton cloth for 10 hours to get the sporuts (optional. You can also make soup with normal soaked chana).

    Step 02


    Pressure cook soaked chana with 4 cups of water, turmeric powder and salt till done. 5-6 whistle in medium flame.

    Step 03


    Heat oil in a pan. Add shallots and garlic. Saute till golden brown color.

    Step 04


    Add cumin powder,pepper powder and curry leaves. Fry for a while.

    Step 05


    Add cooked black chana along with water. Check salt and mix well. Cover the pan and cook for another 5 minutes in low flame. Open the lid and mash the chana with a ladle and again keep in flame for 2 more minutes.

    Step 06


    Serve hot.

    Note: Cumin seed is the star ingredient of the soup. So don’t forget to add. Cook chana with lots of water which makes the soup more tasty and watery
