Karimeen fry / Pearl spot fry is a famous traditional fish fry of Kerala especially Kuttanadu. Karimeen is a back water fish and has huge demand among tourists. This fish is highly nutritive and low in fat. The flesh of Karimeen if soft and it has a unique flavor. Karimeen suitable for making fry and pollichathu.

How to make Karimeen fry?


4 no of Karmieen / Pearl Spot
1 tbsp. of ginger garlic paste
1 spn. of chilli powder
1/2 spn. of turmeric powder
2 spn. of lemon juice
3 springs of curry leaves
Salt as required
2 tbsp. of oil

Karimeen Fry Preparation Method

Step 01

Grind chilli powder,turmeric powder,curry leaves,ginger garlic paste,lemon juice and salt to smooth fine paste.

Step 02

Marinate fish with this paste and keep aside for 15 minute.

Step 03

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 04

Shallow fry fish up to 10-15 minutes.

Step 05

Serve hot with rice.
