Khus Syrup| Ramacham Sarbath
Healthy refreshing drink with khus root (ramacham)
Khus syrup is a delicious and healthy drink to beat this summer. Khus or Natural Vitriver is a grass with a fragrant root used in cosmetics, medicines etc. In Kerala khus are known as ramacham and we used to put the roots in drinking water pots (Kooja). The root has a wonderful aroma and khus water is very good for summer.
khus is good for rejuvenating the body too. Khus syrup is very popular in North India. The syrup is made from khus root. We can make many varieties of cool drinks with this khus syrup-like khus lime juice, mint and khus crush, khus syrup and khus Khus cooler etc… Khus root is also widely used in Ayurveda to make medicines. It relieves thirst and burning sensation.
This khus sarbath is very easy to make and is helps to reduce all kinds of inflammations in our body. You can also check for some healthy summer drinks like Tomato Squash, Carrot shake etc…
How to make Khus Syrup
Ingredients
100g of Khus(ramacham)
4 cup of sugar
5 cup of water
Method
Step 01
Wash the khus roots well in water. Cut the roots with scissors into small pieces and soak in 1 liter of water for 12 hours.
Step 02
Strain the khus using a cotton cloth.
Step 03
Add sugar and mix well.
Step 04
Boil the solution for 20 minutes. Stir often.
Step 05
When the solution turned into a thick syrup sticky consistency, switch off the flame.
Step 06
Allow to cool and strain again to remove the impurities from sugar. Transfer to glass bottle
Step 07
Store in refrigerator. While serving, take 2 spn. of syrup for one glass of water. Add 1 spn. of lemon juice(optional) and mix well and serve.
