Mambazha Pulissery(Ripe mango curry)

Mambazha Pulissery is a traditional sweet and sour curry with yogurt and coconut gravy.Its a common dish of kerala sadya. We used to prepare this curry especially in mango season.


2 no of Ripe Mangoes
1/2 cup Grated coconut of one coconut
1 cup of Curd
4 no of Green chillies
1/4 spoon of Cumin seeds
1/4 spoon of Turmeric powder
1 Spoon of Oil
1/2 spoon of Mustard seeds
3 no of Red chillies
2 springs of Curry leaves
Salt as required


Step 01

Peel the skin and cut mango into mediuma pieces(You can add mango seed also). Boil it with a cup of water,turmeric powder,1 spring of curry leaves and salt until mango becomes tender and not so mushy.

Step 02

Grind coconut along with green chillies,cumin seeds and 1 TS of curd to a smooth paste.

Step 03

Add this coconut paste to cooked mango and mix well.When it satrts to boil,add curd and mix

Step 04

Do not allow the curry to boil after adding curd.Turn off flame.

Step 05

heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 06

Add red chillies and curry leaves.

Step 07

Pour this tempering over the prepared mango curry.
