Mathi Thengapal Curry is an authentic side dish of Malabar areas of Kerala. Sardine / mathi or chala is very popular and favorite fish of all Malayali fish lovers. We prepare many dishes with this healthy fish such as curry, stir fry, thick gravy, fry etc…

Here I would like to share the recipe of sardine curry in coconut milk which is so delicious and goes well with rice, dosa etc… It is very easy to make this curry which requires basic ingredients

Ingredients

1/2 kg of mathi
20 no of Shallots
2 no of Tomato large
2 tbsp. of Ginger garlic paste
2 spn. of Kashmiri chilli powder
1 spn. of Turmeric Powder
3 no of Kudam Puli(Gambogee)
3 springs of curry leaves
1 cup of Thick Coconut milk
Salt as required
1 tbsp. of oil

Method

Step 01


Soak Gambogee (kudam puli) in hot water and keep aside.

Step 02


Heat oil in pan.

Step 03


Add ginger garlic paste,curry leaves and green chilli. Saute for 2 minute.

Step 04


Add chopped shallots and fry till golden color in low flame.

Step 05


Add finely chopped tomato and saute.

Step 06


When tomaotes became mushy,add turmeric powder chilli powder and salt.saute for 1 minute.

Step 06


Add kudam puli and fish.Add little amount of water(1 cup) and cook in medium flame.

Step 06


When fish gets cooked,add coconut milk and curry leaves.Mix well and cook for 2-3 minute in low flame

Step 06


Cover the lid and serve after 5 minutes.
