Muringakka Moru Kalan | Drumstick Curd Curry

Traditional kerala side dish with drumstick and curd

drumstick curd curry/Muringakka Moru Kalan is a very easy to make healthy side dish. As we all know moru curry is an integral part of south Indian Cuisine especially in Kerala. We used to make moru curry in many forms like kachimoru, kurukku kalan, moru curry etc… In this recipe,I used drumstick for making moru curry. You can also use ash gourd,yam,plantain etc… for making this moru kalan. Hope you all will like this recipes.

How to make Muringakka Moru Kalan/drumstick curd curry


3 no of Drumstick
1/4 ltr of Curd
1 cup of Grated coconut
1/2 spn. of Cumin seeds
1/4 spn. of Turmeric powder
1/4 spn. of Chilli powder
1/4 spn. of pepper
3 cloves of garlic
3 no of green chillies
1 spn. of Oil
1/2 spn. of Mustard seeds
4 no of Red chilli
2 springs of curry leaves
Salt as required


Step 01

Wash and cut the drumstick in to 3 inch pieces.

Step 02

Cook drumstick with turmeric powder,salt and 1/2 cup of water for 10 min under low flame.

Step 03

If there is excess of water,open lid and cook.

Step 05

Grind coconut,cumin seeds,green chilli and garlic well.

Step 06

Add ground coconut to drumstick and mix well.Add curd and cook for 1 min.Remove from heat when it start boiling.

Step 07

Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds,red chilli and curry leaves

Step 08

Add this seasoning to drumstick.Mix well and cover lid of pan.Serve after 5 min
