Spicy Mutton liver masala in traditional way


Mutton liver masala also called kaleji masala, is a spicy and flavorful curry made with mutton liver and Indian spices. This is an traditional version of mutton liver semi gravy. Mutton is my all time favorite and it is very healthy and nutritious compared to all other meats. I like all varieties of mutton dishes like Mutton Potato Masala, Mutton Roast, Pressure Cooker Mutton Biriyani etc.

I got this spicy mutton recipe from my father’s elder sister. My father asked her to prepare this whenever she come our home. Now my husband also became a fan of this liver masala. This delicious semi dry gravy relished as a starter or can be accompanied with ghee rice, chapathi etc. Hope you will like the recipe. Please try it out and let me know how it turned out for you.

How to make Mutton Liver Masala

Ingredients

½ kg of Mutton liver
250 g of shallots
100g of garlic
1 medium sized ginger
5 no of green chillies
1 spn. of cumin seeds
3 spn. of pepper
2 spn. of coriander powder
1 spn. of chilly powder
¼ spn. of turmeric powder
A handful of curry leaves
2 spn. of oil
Salt as required

Method


Step 01


Wash the mutton liver thoroughly and drain water.Keep aside.

Step 02


Crush shallots(take half portion) along with green chillies,pepper,cumin seeds,ginger and garlic.

Step 03


Heat oil in a pan.

Step 04


Add shallots and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 05


Add crushed mix and stir well.Add curry leaves.Fry for 2-3 minutes in medium flame.

Step 06


Add coriander powder,chilly powder and turmeric powder.Stir for 1-2 minute in low flame.

Step 07


Add 2 cup of water.Add salt and mix well.

Step 08


Add liver and mix well.Cover lid and cook for 15 minutes in low flame. Stir often.

Step 09


Remove from fire when the curry thickens.

Step 10


Traditional mutton liver masala is now ready to serve.
