Paal Payasam / Rice Kheer
Yummy traditional rice kheer.
Rice kheer is an integral part of kerala festivals like onam, vishu, karthika etc…usually Kerala desserts like ada pradhaman, wheat kheer etc… are a bit difficult to make. But this rice kheer is so easy to prepare and requires only a few ingredients. I used to prepare this kheer often for my son. He likes the crunchiness of nuts along with the sweetened rice.
How to make Paal Payasam
Ingredients
1/2 ltr of Milk
100g of Rice(Pachari)
250g of Sugar
1 spn. of Cardamom powder
1 cup of Water
1 spn. of ghee
25g of kismis&nuts
Method
Step 01
In a heavy bottom vessel half cook rice(you can use basmati rice also) with 1 cup of water.
Step 02
Add milk and cook again. Stir continuously.
Step 03
Once the rice cooked well, add sugar and stir for 5 minutes.
Step 04
Add cardamom powder and cover the pan and keep aside for some time.
Step 05
Roast cashew nuts and raisins in ghee and add to the payasam. Mix well.
Note: Adding 1 pinch of salt will increase the taste of rice kheer. Try it 🙂
