Healthy and easy to make breakfast menu for kids


Poha Upma with fried potatoes and onion. This is the second day of my kids breakfast menu week. First day breakfast menu was Set Dosa and Roasted gram chutney. Today I would like to share one healthy upma recipe with poha/beaten rice/aval. Poha is very healthy and nutritious. I made this poha upma with potatoes and onion. You an also add any vegetables of your choice. The Nice aroma of fried potatoes brings a delicious taste to this upma. This is one the best recipe from my Mom’s kitchen. Hope you all will like this easy and healthy poha upma recipe.

How to make Poha Upma?

Ingredients

  • 2 cup of Poha/Beaten rice
  • 2 no of potato
  • 1 no of onion
  • 1/4 spn. of turmeric powder
  • 2 no of green chillies(optional)
  • 1/2 spn. of mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp. of curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp. of oil
  • Salt for taste

Method


Step 01

Clean and finely chop potatoes and onion.

Step 02

Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.

Step 03

Add chopped onion and fry for 2 minutes.

Step 04

Add curry leaves and green chillies. Saute for a while.

Step 05

Add chopped onion and fry for 2 minutes in medium flame. Mean time soak the poha in 3 cup of water for 1/2 minute and drain it soon ( do not put poha in water for long time, poha just need to get softened). Instead of drain the poha, you can directly sqeeuze it from water and transfer to a bowl)

Step 06

When the potatoes get cooked,add turmeric powder and saute for 1 minute in low flame

Step 07

Add salt and poha. Fry well till everything gets mixed evenly for 3-4 minutes in low flame.

Step 08

Serve hot with any Juice of your choice.
