Puttu Upma
Healthy and tasty dish made with puttu and vegetables
Puttu is a steam cooked rice cake made with rice flour and grated coconut. It is a tradional breakfast item of Kerala. The perfect combination for puttu is pazham(banana) or with Puttum kadalayum. We can also make Wheat Puttu with wheat flour and grated coconut. We usually make this puttu upma with left over puttu and have it as a 4’O clock snack. You can also serve this as breakfast. I have added many vegetables and spinach to make this dish more healthy. Hope you all will like this healthy puttu upma recipe.
How to make Puttu upma
Ingredients
2 cup of puttu (How to make Puttu
1 no of medium sized onion
2 cup of finely chopped mixed vegetables(carrots,beans,potato etc…)
1 cup of finely chopped spinach
2 no of chopped green chillies
Salt as required
To season
1/2 spn. of oil
1/2 spn. of mustard seeds
Method
Step 01
Heat oil in a pan.
Step 02
Splutter mustard seeds.
Step 03
Add finely chopped onion and green chilly. Saute for a while.
Step 04
Add chopped vegetables and salt. Fry for 2-3 minute in medium flame. (As the vegetables are finely chopped,It won’t take much time to cook.). Add spinach and fry for 1-2 minutes.
Step 05
Add puttu and mix well. Cover the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes in low flame.
Step 06
Serve hot with Tea.
