Peera is a famous fish recipe in kerala.We can make Peera with almost all the fishes. Mathi peera is bit different and more healthy than the other big fishes.Hope you all will like this recipe.

Health Benefits of Mathi(Sardine)


Sardine is a type of fish that can work wonders to enhance your health. We all know, fish is a healthy food, but eating sardines definitely has its own added benefits. Sardines are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which helps in reducing LDL Cholesterol levels which in turn helps in reducing Heart problems. Omega 3 fatty acids also helps in making you hair healthy and shiny, its also makes your skin glow. Mathi (Sardine) has small bones which can be consumed easily which are rich sources of calcium for our bones.

Ingredients

  • 10 no of Sardine
  • 20 no of Small onion/Shallots
  • 5 no of Green chilli
  • 1 small piece of Ginger
  • 10 no of Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup of Grated Coconut
  • 1/4 spn. of Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 spn. of Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 spn. of Mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 spn. of Mustard seeds

Method


Step 01

Cook the fish along with salt,chilli powder and turmeric Powder with 1/2 glass of water.

Step 02

Once it is cooked,allow to cool and remove the thorn.

Step 03

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 04

Splutter mustard seeds,chopped green chillies,finely chopped ginger,garlic and curry leaves. Fry well for 1 min.

Step 05

Add grated coconut and saute well for 1 min.

Step 06

Add fish and stir for 2 minutes.

Step 07

Cover lid of pan and cook for 2-3 min.

Step 08

Serve hot with rice.
