Kids breakfast menu – This week I would like to share some healthy and easy to make variety breakfast ideas for kids.
In this menu I would like to share the recipes of small set dosa, roasted gram chutney (pottu kadala chutney) and dates.
Appam or set dosa is south India’s traditional breakfast item. It is a very easy-to- make and a healthy recipe. We need to ferment the rice and urd dal batter for making this appam.

From roasted gram they will get iron and dates are one of the most healthiest fruit in the world. Hope you all will like this healthy kids breakfast menu. Please try it out and let me know how it turned out for you. Using this same batter we can make uthappam,Dosa etc…

Kids Breakfast Menu
Day1 : Set Dosa and Roasted gram chutney
Day2: Poha Upma and Juice
Day3 :Carrot Cheese Dosa and Anar lassi
Day4: Ragi ila ada |finger millet in banana leaf


How to make Set Dosa?


  • 3 cups of Unboiled rice(pachari)
  • 1/2 cup of Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp. of boiled rice
  • Salt for taste


Step 01

Rinse and soak rice and gram together in water for about 6 hours.

Step 02

Grind well and ferment for 8 hours.

Step 03

Heat non stick pan.

Step 04

Add salt in to the batter and mix well. Pour half laddle of batter in to pan. Just pour the batter on tawa and make small dosa. Do not over spread. Cover the pan and cook for 2 minutes. No need to cook the other side.

Step 05

Spongy and fluffy dosa is ready. Goes well with chutneys.

How to make Pottukadalai Chutney?

1 cup of grated coconut
1/2 cup of pottukadala(roasted gram)
2 no of green chillies
1 small piece of ginger
To season
1 spn. of oil
1/2 spn. of mustard seeds
2 springs of curry leaves
2 no of red chilly
Salt as required

Pottukadala chutney preparation steps

Step 01

Grind Pottukadalai along with 1 cup of water,grated coconut,green chillies,salt and ginger to a smooth fine paste

Step 02

Heat coconut oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds.Add curry leaves and red chillies. Mix well into the chutney and serve

Mint leaves chutney,Tomato chutney,Dosa podi(with urd dal),Coconut chutney powder etc…
