Spinach curry with dal curry

Spinach dal curry/cheera parippu curry is a traditional side dish of south india. It is an easy to make healthy side dish with spinach and dal. This spinach dal curry goes well with rice,chapathi or even with ghee rice We can make spinach curry in many ways. I have already posted spinach curry with grounded coconut and spinach curry with jackfruit seeds (cheera chakkakkkuru curry). Hope you all will like this recipes.

How to make spinach dal curry


1 bunch of Spinach(Cheera)
100 g of Toor Dal
1 no of onion
1 spn. of ginger garlic paste
2 no of tomato
1 spn. of Chilli powder
1/2 spn. of Turmeric Powder
Salt as required
2 spn. of oil


Step 01

Pressure cook toor dal along with turmeric powder and salt till 2 whistle in low flame.

Step 02

Add chopped spinach and cook for 5 minutes. Keep aside.

Step 03

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 04

Add sliced onion and green chillies. Fry till onion become golden color.

Step 05

Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till it gets mushy.

Step 06

Add chilli powder and turmeric powder. Saute for a while and then add cooked spinach dal mix.

Step 07

Mix well and cover the pan. Adjust salt and cook for 2-3 minutes in low flame.
