Squid Roast Kerala Style/ Koonthal Roast /Kanana Roast
Kerala Style Spicy Squid roast recipe
Squid roast is a quite popular dish in Kerala.I love to cook many dishes with squid like squid curry,stuffed squid,squid fry etc…This spicy squid raost is my all time favorite.We used to have this squid roast when we go for vacation.Because squid is not much available here.My Mother in low is an expert in cooking squid recipes(Almost all non vegetarian expert).Ho I am waiting for next vacation… 🙂
Health Benefits of Squid
1.Squid is low in Saturated Fat and Sodium.
2.It is also a good source of Niacin and Zinc, and a very good source of Protein, Riboflavin, Vitamin B12, Phosphorus, Copper and Selenium.
But Squid is pretty high in cholesterol.So do not include squid in your daily meals.
1/2 kg of Squid
2 cup of Sliced onion
1 cup of Sliced tomato
4 no of Green chillies
4 Tablespoon of Ginger garlic paste
1/2 spoon of Turmeric powder
1 Spoon of chilli powder
1/2 spoon of Garam masala
Oil as required
2 springs of Curry leaves
Salt as required
Squid Roast Kerala Style – Preparation Method
Clean and cut the squid into rings
Cook squid with 1/2 glass of water ,turmeric powder and salt(10 minute in low flame).Keep aside
Heat oil in pan.
Add ginger garlic paste.Fry till raw smell goes off.
Add sliced onion,curry leaves and green chillies.Fry till golden brown color.
Add tomatoes and cook till tomaotes turns to soft and mushy.
Add all the spices(chilli powder,turmeric powder and garam masala).Saute for 1 minute.
Add cooked squid and mix well.Add some more curry leaves,cover the lid of pan and cook for 5 min in low flame.Stir often..
Serve hot with rice,roti etc…Enjoy… 🙂
