Sugiyan recipe | Sukhiyan

Traditional sweet of South India

Sukhiyan is one of my favorite dish which I used to prepare at least once in a month. It brought back happy memories of my childhood. Sukhiyan is a very easy to prepare and healthy snack. The filling we are using for sukhiyan is Green gram(cherupayar) and jaggery. Some people will add grated coconut along with green gram. We can also prepare healthy kuruma with green gram. This sukhiyan is very good for kids because green gram is very rich in protein. We can give this as a tea time snack. Usually we use rice flour or maida to cover the filling. Here I used wheat flour to make it some more healthy. Hope you all will like this recipe.

Ingredients

2 cup of green gram
1 cup of powdered jaggery or thick solution
1 cup of wheat flour
1/4 spn. of turmeric powder
A pinch of Salt
Oil for fry

Method

Step 01

Pressure cook green gram along with little quantity of water. If the cooked green gram is too watery, we cant make balls. So for 2 cup of green gram 1 cup of water will be enough. No need to soak green gram in water before cooking.

Step 02

Once it is cooked take a bowl and add powdered jaggery, little bit of salt and cooked green gram. You can also add cardamom powder.

Step 03

Mix well and make smalls. Keep aside.
