Soft and sweet paniyaram made with idli batter

Paniyaram is a very easy to make south Indian snack made with idli batter. We can also serve paniyaram as a main course for breakfast. We need a paniyaram cookware/unniyappam pot for making this dish.

I have already tried some sweet Kerala recipes like unniyapam, oats unniyappam, cheese paniyaram with this paniyaram cookware. This sweet paniyaram is very easy to make and requires few ingredients.

There are many varieties in paniyaram like spicy paniyaram, sweet paniyaram, cheese paniyaram etc… Paniyaram is also known as kuzhi paniyaram, appes,paddu,sweet godu etc… Hope you will like this recipes.

  • 1 cup of thick Idli batter
  • 2 tsbp. of sugar(or jaggery)
  • 1/2 cup of grated coconut
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp. of chopped cuts
  • 1 tbsp. of oil



Step 01

Take idli batter in bowl and add grated coconut,sugar(or jaggery) and a pinch of salt. Mix well and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 02

Place the paniyaram pot on high flame. Add few drops of oil in each mould.

Step 03

Add batter in each moulds.

Step 04

Cover the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes in medium flame.

Step 05

carefully flip the paniyaram using one fork and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes.

Step 06

Serve with honey(optional)
