Tomato Onion Chutney Restaurant Style


Restaurant style tomato onion chutney is a very easy to make tangy flavored chutney served with Idli and dosa. Chutneys are the best dishes served with South Indian breakfast. There are lots of chutney varieties like Coconut chutney, Onion Tomato Chutney, capsicum chutney, peanut chutney which are highly nutritious and easy to make.

Here, I would like to share the recipe of restaurant style tomato onion chutney which the south Indian restaurants serve with masala dosa and Idli. I have added garlic and curry leaves for making this chutney but it is completely optional and you can skip that part. Hope you all will like this onion tomato chutney. Ingredients

1 large no of onion
2 medium sized tomato
1 spring of curry leaves
2 cloves of garlic(optional)
1/2 spn. of chilli powder
1 small piece of tamarind
2 spn. of oil

Tomato Onion Chutney Restaurant Style Preparation Method

Step 01


Heat oil in a pan.

Step 02


Add chopped onion,garlic and curry leaves.Fry till onion became translucent.

Step 03


Add chopped tomato and tamarind.Fry till tomatoes became mushy.

Step 04


Add chilli powder and saute for 1 minute.

Step 05


Switch off the flame and add salt.Allow to cool.

Step 06


Grind the mix using 2 tbsp. of water to smooth fine paste.

Step 07


Serve with Idli,dosa etc…
