Healthy and Delicious wheat kheer
Kheer/Payasam is a common tradiotional dessert of India. It is prepared especially in festivals,family gathering and birthday parties. I tasted this whole wheat kheer after my marriage. My MIL taught me to prepare this yummy kheer. It is very healthy and diabetic friendly. Ingredients
- 250g of Whole Wheat
- 150g of jaggery
- 2 cup of thick coconut milk
- 1 cup of thin coconut milk
- 1/2 spn. of Cardamom powder
- 2 pinch of Dried ginger powder(chukku podi)
- 2 tbsp. of Ghee
- Nuts and raisins to garnish
Method
Step 01
Clean wheat, wash two to three times with plenty of water and then soak for 3-4 hour.
Step 02
Pressure cook wheat for 20 minute in low flame.
Step 03
Heat 1 S ghee in a thick bottom vessel.
Step 04
Add cooked wheat and stir well.
Step 05
Add jaggery solution and cook for 5 minute. Stir continuously.
Step 06
Add thin coconut milk and stir well. Cook in low flame for 5 minute.
Step 07
Cook till it is thick but of pouring consistency.
Step 08
Add thick coconut milk,cardamom powder,dried ginger powder. Mix well and cook for 1 minute.
Step 09
Turn off the flame. Enjoy with pappadam(Papad) 🙂
