Chatti Pathiri(Whole Wheat) with beef filling with step by step photos

chatti pathiri savory layered pastry made with whole wheat flour

chatti pathiri also known as chatti pathal is a traditional dish made by malabar muslims during iftar( the time they break fast in the month of ramzan). In our region this chatti pathiri is not famous. I came to know about this dish from my neighbor who is from nadapuram. She used to make this chatti pathiri with rice flour and beef masala filling. She said we can also prepare this dish with maida(all purpose flour) also. As a maida hater, I decided to make chatti pathiri with whole wheat flour and prepared for one day of ramzan. It was so yummy and delicious. My husband loved it very much. I never expected this much perfection from the first try itself. Even though it takes time to prepare this dish, it tastes delicious. I am posting step by step photos for preparing this chatti pathiri. If you want you can make this chatti pathiri with maida also. There is no difference in preparation. But if we are making with rice flour, there is some difference like we need to steam the chatti pathiri instead of pan cooking.
