Whole wheat naan recipe without using yeast. Being a Keralite, naan is not one of the common breads I make at home, but whenever I go to the restaurants I end up ordering naan even though I know it would probably be made using all purpose flour(Maida). At the restaurants it has always been a difficult choice between health issues of having all purpose flour and the crispy but soft taste of this wonderful bread, as always taste wins.
One of my latest mission has been to avoid all purpose flour from my ingredients list as much as possible and this recipe is the result of that. There are more gluten free whole wheat dishes that I will be publishing in the coming days.

whole wheat naan | naan recipe with step by step photos
Ingredients
250g of wheat flour
1 spn. of baking powder
1/8 spn. of baking soda
1 tbsp. of yogurt
2 tbsp. of milk
1/2 spn. of sugar
Salt as required
Optional ingredients
2 spn. of sesame seeds
2 spn. of pumpkin seeds
1 tbsp. of butter/olive oil
Whole wheat naan preparation steps
Step 01
Sieve whole wheat, baking powder, baking soda and salt. This is to remove and large lumps in these ingredients.Step 02
Mix sugar, yogurt and milk and mix it well with wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Knead to smooth dough.Step 03
Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.Step 04
After 15 minutes, add 2 tbsp. of oil for kneading. Knead the dough and again covered with the wet cloth. Keep aside for 10 more minutes.Step 05
Make small balls from the dough, sprinkle sesame seeds, melon seeds and roll in to 6-7 inches oval shape.Step 06
Place the Naan on hot tava. Cook both sides of the Naan till it get browned.Step 07
When the Naan get browned, drizzle olive oil/ butter while cooking if you want. For the health conscious you can have them plain also.step by step whole wheat naan recipe without yeast :
1.Take a vessel, sieve whole wheat, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
2.Mix sugar,yogurt and milk and mix it with wheat flour and other ingredients from step 1.
3. Knead to smooth dough.
4.Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.
5.After 15 minutes, add 2 tbsp. of oil for kneading.Knead the dough and again covered with the wet cloth.Keep aside for 10 more minutes.

You could try non vegetarian curries like Chicken Roast, Beef Curry, Mutton liver masala or Mutton potato masala,Meatball manchurian and vegetarian curries like Dum aloo,Dal Curry,Multi dal gravy along with Whole wheat naan.
