Easy tomato rasam – 10 minute recipe
Tomato rasam also called thakkali rasam is a delicious South Indian soup blended with Indian spices. Rasam is very popular in South India especially Tamil Nadu. This healthy, spiced drink is good for digestion and cold. Rice, sambar and rasam is a perfect lunch combination.
I have already posted the recipe of Easy rasam and healthy Beetroot Rasam. Here I would like to share the recipe of simple thakkali rasam. This rasam with tomato is very easy to make and requires basic ingredients. We can prepare this rasam within 10 minutes without using any readymade rasam powder. How to prepare Tomato Rasam?
Ingredients
2 no of tomato
4 tbsp. of tamarind pulp
1 small piece of ginger
3 cloves of garlic
1 spn. of cumin seeds
2 spn. of pepper
3 tnsp. of coriander seeds(do not use coriander powder)
2 cup of water
2 spn. of oil
1/2 spn. of mustard seeds
1/2 spn. of cumin seeds(to season)
4 no of red chillies
2 springs of curry leaves
2 tbsp. of coriander leaves
salt as required
Method
Step 01
Crush coriander seeds along with cumin seeds,garlic,ginger and pepper.Keep aside.Step 02
Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds.Add cumin seeds and red chillies.Saute for a while.Step 03
Add curry leaves and coriander leaves.Add crushed mix.Saute for 1-2 minute in low flame.Step 04
Add chopped tomatoes and fry till tomatoes become half mushy.Step 05
Add tamarind pulp,salt and water.Bring to boil for 2-3 minute.Step 06
Serve hot with rice.Note:
Coriander seeds are must for this rasam recipe.Try to serve hot.
