Kerala Style Nadan Parippu vada – Parippu vada is a traditional snack item of Kerala. This snack item is also famous in other parts of South India like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and they have this vada with lunch.
In Kerala, we have parippu vada with tea. Parippuvada, Pazham Pori, Sugiyan , Pakkavada are the common snack items of all tea shops. I have posted a normal parippu vada recipe before. Today I am posting tea shop style parippu vada recipe. This thattukada style (tea shop) parippu vada recipe is very tasty and spicier compared to the normal one.

How to make nadan thattukada style Parippu vada
Ingredients
400g of Chana Dal
1 medium piece of ginger
10 no of shallots
5 strings of curry leaves
5 no of green chillies
1/6 spn of asafoetida
1/2 spn of turmeric powder
Salt as required
1/4 liter oil for fry

Method
Step 01
Soak chana dal in water for 5 hours. Drain it.Step 02
Crush shallots, curry leaves, green chilies and ginger using small mixer grinder.Step 03
Put the mix in a bowl and mix well with hands. Take the same grinder and crush dal in the same way.Step 04
Add crushed dal to the same shallots mix.Step 05
Add a handful of uncrushed dal for a crunchy feel.Step 06
Add chilli flakes, asafoetida, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well with hands.Step 07
Heat oil in pan.Step 08
Take a small lemon-sized portion of dal in your palm and flatten it to round shape.Step 09
When oil gets heated add vada mix into the oil slowly. Reduce the flame to medium and fry both sides till it becomes golden brown.Pakkavada Recipe |Onion pakkavada with step by step pictures
