Healthy and tasty Chutney with Pottukdala.


Pottukadala chutney is a highly nutritious and easy to make chutney for South Indian breakfast items like idli, dosa, appam etc. Chutneys are famous side dish of South India. Usually I make chutney with coconut. I tasted the pottukadala chutney from a Tamil restaurant which was very tasty.

Pottukadala or roasted gram is one of the easily available, economical and healthy gram which is rich in iron and low in calorie. Making chutney with pottukadala increases the nutrition level of the curry.

Pottukadalai chutney goes well with Dosa, Idli, Appam etc…I have already tried Pottukadala laddu As pottukadala is very low in calorie this chutney is good for weight watchers.

Pottukadalai chutney goes well with Dosa,Idli,Appam etc…

Ingredients


1 cup of grated coconut
1/2 cup of pottukadala (roasted gram)
2 no of green chillies
1 small piece of ginger
To season
1 spn. of oil
1/2 spn. of mustard seeds
2 springs of curry leaves
2 no of red chilly
Salt as required

Pottukadala chutney preparation steps

Step 01

Grind Pottukadala along with 1 cup of water, grated coconut, green chillies, salt and ginger to a smooth fine paste

Step 02

Heat coconut oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and red chillies. Mix well into the chutney and serve
